Statement of Faith
Western Mass Homeschoolers subscribes to Biblical Christianity. We believe the Holy Bible, consisting of both the Old and New Testaments in their entirety, is the inspired, inerrant, complete, Word of God, the whole of which was given to all Christian believers. We believe the one God is Triune, consisting of the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit. God created the universe out of nothing, and He is eternal, changeless, holy, loving and perfect.
God, the Father, the first person of the Trinity, is a spiritual being without a physical body Who is personal and involved with people.
Jesus is God, the second person of the Trinity, and is the Son of the Father. He has always existed and was not created. He is fully God and fully man, the two natures joined. He is co-equal with God the Father and the Holy Spirit. In becoming man, He was begotten through the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin, Mary. Jesus is the only way to the Father, salvation, and eternal life. He rose from the dead on the third day, spiritually and physically immortal. He physically ascended into heaven and will come again visibly and physically at the end of the world to establish God’s kingdom and judge the world. Jesus is the Jewish Messiah promised to Israel in the Old Testament.
The Holy Spirit is God, the third person of the Trinity. He comforts, grieves, reproves, convicts, guides, teaches, indwells, and fills Christians.
Salvation is by God’s grace, not an individual’s good works. Salvation must be received by faith. People must believe that Jesus died for their sins and physically rose again, which is the assurance of forgiveness and resurrection of the body. After death, believers are present with Jesus and await final judgment. Both the saved and unsaved will be resurrected. The saved will live with God in heaven for eternity, and the unsaved will suffer the torment of hells and eternal separation from God.
As born-again believers, we all belong to the catholic or universal body of Christ which manifests itself in local churches or assemblies. We believe Christians are commissioned to voluntarily aid in missionary efforts, and aid the poor, widows, orphans, and the downtrodden. Believers will be known by their love for one another.
We believe that the God of the Bible established marriage as the exclusive lifetime covenant of union between one man and one woman. It is His unique gift that echoes the union of Christ and His church, and is the ideal environment that He has ordained for procreation and for the raising of children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord to the glory of God.
Finally, we believe it is our duty as Christians to defend and protect human life from conception to natural death.
